Google moved away from its augmented reality (AR) glasses, called Glass, for consumers quite some time ago. Instead, now the company focuses on the enterprise market, which it is boosting with a brand new pair of AR glasses this week.Google on Monday officially announced the “Glass Enterprise Edition 2” AR glasses. The AR features are attached to safety frames, which makes this latest iteration of the Glass design look far more traditional than futuristic. Google partnered up with Smith Optics to help bring the latest version of Glass to life. But, if you prefer the smaller version, which drops the safety frames design, that is an option, too.
Google’s newest Glass variant includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 processor under the hood, which is a multicore CPU. Google also included a new “artificial intelligence engine”, which the company says can boost power savings on daily usage.
